Why there is no single price
One of the first questions we are asked is “how much does it cost?”. The honest answer is that it depends on the project. Two plots of the same size may need very different work. Below we explain the main factors so you know what to expect.
Volume of work
How much soil has to be moved or removed? Volume affects both machine time and the number of truck trips.
Soil type
Soft soil is worked differently from rocky ground. Where there is rock, water or old foundations, the work usually takes longer or needs different equipment.
Access and site constraints
An open plot with easy access allows faster work. Narrow entrances, slopes, neighbouring buildings or utilities close to the site require more care and often a smaller machine.
Transport
If soil or materials have to be removed, the distance and number of trips affect the total cost. If they can stay on site for backfilling, transport costs go down.
Schedule and coordination
Work that can be done continuously, with good coordination between machine and truck, is more efficient. Interruptions and waiting add time.
How to get an accurate quote
With this information — and a site visit where needed — we can give you a quote that reflects the actual job.
- Describe the project in as much detail as you can.
- Send photos of the site and, if available, drawings.
- Give the exact location and describe the access.
- Tell us what you want done with the soil.
